Tis the season for taxes. Don’t despair! Mr. Scrip is here to show one and all how to get a tax deduction for shopping. That’s right. Shopping. When you buy Scrip from Mr. Swartz, a portion of the money goes to the DCS building fund. DCS is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit. That’s fancy talk for ‘you get a tax write-off.’
Let’s say you’re into botany and plan to add a greenhouse to your backyard. The horticulturist in you spends $3000 at Home Depot. At a 4% rate, you earn $120. $60 goes toward your tuition account and $60 goes to the building fund, and is therefore tax-deductible.You now have a new tax write-off. Just for shopping.
*This offer is not limited to botanists, greenhouses, herbivores, or those with green thumbs.

Mr. Scrip has teenagers living in his house. They always want to eat, listen to their iPods or go to the movies. They can be expensive; however, the frugal and sometimes cunning Mr. Scrip actually earns money from their entertainment habits. How?
Mr. Scrip buys iTunes scrip! Yes, you can buy iTunes gift cards from Mr. Swartz! How great is that? They are sold in $15 cards and earn 5% back. So the next time there’s a birthday or special occasion, or you see your kid with headphones stuffed into his ears, think Scrip!
Mr. Scrip’s teens also like to go to the movies. So, he stocks up on weekend fun by buying AMC Scrip from Mr. Swartz. Now Mr. Scrip earns 7% back and he gets some peace and quiet in the house while the kids are at the movies.

Let’s talk about a friend of mine. No, it’s not gossip. It’s Mr. Scrip’s wife. Her office had an impromptu lunch party at Bun’s restaurant last week. Before they went, Mrs. Scrip met with Mr. Swartz and bought $200 worth of Scrip from Buns. When it came time to pay for their lunch bill, Mrs. Scrip and her co-workers exchanged their cash for the Bun’s certificates. It was quick and painless.
By buying the Bun’s Scrip ahead of time, Mrs. Scrip earned a substantial $40 because Bun’s has a 20% profit return on Scrip.
So, the industrious and ingenious Mrs. Scrip now has $20 credited to her tuition account and $20 going to the building fund. All because some employees went to lunch.
Other restaurants with a substantial Scrip profit:
Bob Evans 12%
Chili’s 11%
Dave & Buster’s 13%
Fazoli’s 15%
Hoggy’s 20%
Tian Fu 10%
Rocky’s Italian Ice 20%
Waffle House 15%
Wendy’s 12%
See Mr. Swartz for more Scrip ideas and log on to www.dcschool.org to download the most current Scrip order form.

Free Money Mondays! $150 Tuition Discount
Posted on Jan 25, 2010
$150 can be yours just for talking about DCS! Have you heard about our incentive program? Forget the $20 incentives you see on TV. You can earn up to $300 off your tuition and here’s how:
Tell a friend about DCS. For instance, did you know that DCS has one of the lowest tuition rates among area Christian schools? Did you know that DCS is ranked as one of the top academic high schools in the state of Ohio?
Your friend interviews with the school for possible enrollment. They mention your name.
$150 is deducted from your tuition. Easy!
But, wait, there’s more…
In addition to the $150 deduction just for talking to a friend, we’ll also give you an additional $150 when your friend enrolls at DCS. That’s a total of $300!
You can repeat this offer as many times as you like, there’s no limit! Where else is there an incentive program that great?

Christmas is over, but now you’ve got bills? No problem. Mr. Scrip can put a smile on your face, especially if you shopped at Kohl’s. Let’s see how Mr. Scrip earns a little free money this week:
DCS: “How did you earn money by shopping at Kohl’s?”
Mr. Scrip: “Technically, my wife is the one who shops at Kohl’s. I like the Home Depot.”
DCS: “Right. OK then, how does your wife earn money while shopping at Kohl’s?”
Mr. Scrip: “Well, you know those coupons Kohl’s sends out that say save 15% or more when you use your Kohl’s card? She uses those to do her Christmas shopping, uses her Kohl’s card and then saves 15% on her bill. With 18 grandkids, that adds up.”
DCS: “Ok that’s a pretty good savings, but how does that help?”
Mr. Scrip: “To pay off my bill the following month, I go see Mr. Swartz. I buy Kohl’s gift cards from him. I earn 4% of the profit so it goes toward my tuition and the building fund. I take the gift cards to Kohl’s and pay off my Kohl’s card.”
DCS: “You can do that?”
Mr. Scrip: “Boy howdy you can. Kohl’s is the ONLY place that will let you do that. And the gift cards from Mr. Swartz are the ONLY ones that will work for this.”
DCS: “So I can save 15% by using my Kohl’s card and then earn 4% for paying the bill? It’s like getting paid to shop!”
Mr. Scrip: “Indeed it is. And Kohl’s has a great selection of cookware.”
DCS: “I thought you were a Home Depot man.”
Mr. Scrip: “A man’s gotta eat.”
Tune in next Monday for another savvy tip from Mr. Scrip.

DCS is Top Academic High School in Delaware County…Again
Posted on Dec 03, 2009
For the second consecutive year, Delaware Christian has been ranked the top academic school in Delaware County and one of the top academic schools in Ohio. Out OF 1,000 schools, DCS is ranked #22. The recent report, based on the 2009 OGT test results, is part of an independent research project. This is the only report that examines Ohio's public, private, and charter schools together.
Results are based on performances in Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. There is also a summary page that shows the percentage of students who successfully passed all five parts with a "Proficient" rating. The data used in this report is from those five parts and from the summary.
