Super Pi Day Activities ~ March 12

This year is a historical “Super Pi” day.  On Saturday, March 14, the calendar will read the first 10 digits of Pi at 9:26:53 am: 3.141592653! Pi is an important number in mathematics, represented by the symbol π. It is used in calculations related to circles and has a numeric value of around 3.14. Our school Pi Day activities will be held on Thursday, March 12, due to Teacher Professional Day Friday the 13. Secondary Students: a contest to see who memorized the most decimal places of Pi. The world record is 100,000 digits – the school record is 260 digits! The prize is a whole pie (one you can eat). Elementary students earn a Timbit at lunch for memorizing 10 decimal places. The students in grades K-12  can wear a pre-purchased Pi t-shirt, with uniform bottoms. Celebrate math on Pi Day!

Pi Day T-shirt order forms are due by Friday, February 20.
