Computer

We learn about the computer parts in first grade. We practice good posture and typing skills weekly. Word processing (WordPad) is introduced by typing spelling words and learning to use fonts, colors and other features. In second grade, mouse skills and basic Internet skills are also practiced with online games such as Ten Commandments, A Kids Heart and math games.

In third grade we introduce the Internet - with safety training - there is a focus on specific Internet website projects (Colonial Kids in the fall and plant photosynthesis in the spring - they learn from the website and fillout project worksheets -they also practice typing skills. In fourth grade, we have more time with typing skills, supplementing with special projects, Internet and online games.

In fifth grade, we take their Bible quiz weekly on the computer! Students write verses and work on typing skills. We have added Excel this year also.

In sixth grade, we cover Internet research, preparing a short research paper including pictures, a couple of Internet worksheet projects and a Power Point presentation.
