Elementary
Fourth Grade
This year we are learning to do all things with excellence and for The LORD. “…whatever you do, do it all for the glory of GOD.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
In the Fourth grade, data analysis and long division are skills students develop while geometry is a subject that we continue to explore. Tall tales, historical fiction, and biography are some of the genres we’ll read. We’ll do class activities surrounding the reading of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Long Winter.
We learn and practice grammar and punctuation rules of the English language. We use these skills and tools in letter writing, journal writing, and creative writing. Our studies of prerevolutionary America take us out of the classroom to visit the Santa Maria. Later in the year we enhance our study of the Civil War by visiting Mott’s Military Museum. Occasionally we accompany Mrs. Griffin to hear the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra.
Our study of arthropods comes alive as we use our God-given creativity to design a new species of insect. Students can expect to diminish their monosyllabic tendencies via utilization of polysyllabic terminology.
Our Biblical studies focus on the life of JESUS and the power of The HOLY SPIRIT. These highlights help us develop Christian character within our own lives. In addition students memorize portions of Scripture. The passages are divided into smaller chunks for easier learning. In total we learn approximately 40 Bible verses, a Mighty Weapon against the devil!
