Second Grade

In Second Grade, we read great books like The Magic Tree House Series and work on reading comprehension. We improve our spelling, too. In the beginning we spell review words like shape, sew and try. By the spring time we can spell words like hopscotch, stitch and whisper. We can even do vocabulary!

Math is important too. We work really hard on subtraction and even some beginning multiplication. We learn about some great Bible stories and memorize 30 verses!

Writing is fun, too. We learn to write in complete sentences and paragraphs. We also learn to write in cursive.

For fun we visit an apple orchard, and Franklin Park Conservatory, where we study butterflies.

Our class motto is: “Do the Right Thing.” Our class verse is: Deuteronomy 6:18a: “Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight!"
