Fine Arts

Band
Band is part of the school's music curriculum.Fourth grade students begin learning instruments starting with recorders. Fifth graders begin learning instruments and perform with the Red, White and Gold band. Sixth and seventh graders play in the Espirit de Corps band and eight grade through seniors form the Eagle Band which has approximately thirty members. The bands practice during school time and high school students receive one credit for participation. Bands play for fall school events and perform a Christmas Concert.  During winter sports, the Pep band performs at select home games. In the spring, bands participate in the Association of Christian Schools International's Fine Arts Festival at Cedarville University and host a Spring Concert in May. The bands are under the direction of Mr. Dave Eaton.

Choir
The 8th through 12th grade choir sings two major concerts each year and participates in the Cedarville Music Festival in the spring. This school year (09-10) tour award winning choir performed at the opening of the ACSI conference in Columbus, and did an overnight tour to Cincinnati which included a performance and tour of the Creation museum, the play, A Christmas Carol and a visit to the Rockport Aquarium. Eighth through 12th grade students may participate in choir as an elective. Choir presentations are the same as band listed above. The choir is comprised of 45 students under the direction of Mrs. Mary-Jane Griffin. All students in 4th through 6th grade may join the elementary choir, performing twice a year at special concerts.



Fine Arts Festival
In conjunction with the May Spring Concert, all school art classes display the outstanding projects of their school year. Projects are evaluated for their artistic quality and awards are given for outstanding work in many different categories. The festival allows visitors a wonderful opportunity to view individual's works and see the progression of artistic ability from the youngest to oldest DCS students.
